Minnie Dlamini has resigned from popular SABC 1 ” Live”
The 21-year-old confirmed to City Press she has resigned from the music show.
She said: “Yes, I did resign from Live to pursue my first love, which is acting. I never wanted to stay longer than two years at Live. I guess my decision was six months premature but I do feel like it’s my time (to leave).”
Minnie who was said of not getting along with her co-presenter Bonang Matheba a few months ago is moving on with her acting debut on M-Net’s The Wild soapie where she stars as Zinhle Lebone, the daughter of businesswoman Marang Lebone, who is played by Connie Ferguson.
Bonang is the only presenter left on the show as Sizwe Dhomo was also given the boot from the producers a few months ago.
Wonder who will be their replacement!!!
Actress Lesego Motsepe, who is best known as Letti in Isidingo, dropped a bombshell on world aids day on popular ratio station Kaya FM.
Motsepe revealed she’s been living with HIV for 13 years on air as part of an awareness-raising initiative for World Aids Day.
The actress is part of a non-profit organisation, Afrikarize, which is creating new conversations on HIV/Aids as well as tackling socio-economic challenges facing the youth.
Motsepe, who played the character Letti between 1998 and 2008, said that when she found out she was HIV-positive 13 years ago, she wasn’t really shocked. This was because she had been working as an Aids ambassador for years, using puppets to teach children about the virus.
Suddenly, all the things she had been talking about became relevant in her own life.
Nevertheless, the news was life-changing.
“I went through many phases: denial, resentment, rejection and anger,” Motsepe said. “But the most important thing is that I am alive today.”
When people found out about her status, they “just hug me. They can hear in my voice I am not weak. But it has taken a lot of work, a lot of energy, to be where I am today,” Motsepe said.
She advised South Africans to know their status.
“If it’s positive, do something about it. Don’t dig your grave because you are still alive,” she said.
The actress said that she has been on antiretrovirals for just more than a year.
Recounting that her CD4 count was just 99 in October last year, she said she had been close to death’s door.
“For seven weeks, I was down. To be able to pick myself up from that and say I am going to live is something,” Motsepe said.
She said she had to be her own coach and change the way she lived. She had to stop drinking – she used to drink a lot of alcohol – and also has to watch her diet.
“It affects a lot. If I have a headache, I can’t take a headache pill. If my stomach is woozy, I can’t take anything. I can’t take anything that would interfere with the antiretrovirals,” she said.
“I decided that if I was going to live, I would not let this get me down. I don’t say I’m HIV-positive, I say HIV lives in my blood.”
She said it took 13 years to share with others that they, too, can do it.

The trial of troubled hip hop artist and Kelly Khumalo’s baby daddy Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye and co-accused Themba Tshabalala was expected to resume in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
At a previous appearance, the court heard that a Legal Aid lawyer would not be appointed for the musician because he had failed to complete the required application process at the Dobsonville Justice Centre.
Maarohanye’s former lawyer Ike Motloung withdrew from the case because his client was unable to pay him.
Maarohanye and Tshabalala face charges of murder, attempted murder and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
They were allegedly drag-racing when one of their Mini Coopers ploughed into a group of schoolchildren in Mdlalose Street, Protea North, on March 8, 2010.
Andile Mtombeni, 19, Phomelelo Masemelo, 16, Mlungisi Cwayi and Prince Mahube, both aged 17, were killed as they were walking home from school. Fumani Mushwana, 17, and Frank Mlabo, 18, suffered serious injuries, including brain damage.
During the bail hearing, the prosecution said preliminary tests showed that Maarohanye had cocaine and morphine in his system. Tshabalala was twice over the legal alcohol limit.
Maarohanye broke down in tears when he took the stand last year.
“I’ve never committed a crime. I don’t intend to… I’ll do anything to get my life back on track. I’ve been going through a lot of emotional stress with everything that’s been happening. I just need time to be with my family and unborn child. I just want to be alone from everyone.”
Both accused, who pleaded not guilty to the crime, were out on R10,000 bail.
Initial court appearances were marred by violence as scores of children protested against the granting of bail. Police resorted to using water cannons and firing rubber bullets to disperse the crowds.

“Live” co-presenter Sizwe Dhlomo broke the news last week on twitter that he was leaving the show to focus on other things, but word on the street is the producers of “Live” have decided no to renew his contract.
According to our sources within SABC 1, Live’s producers informed Sizwe last month that they would not renew his contract for the next season, and agreed with him that he could hand over his resignation.
Sizwe was bragging last year on twitter that ever since he joined the show, ratings and market share were better than ever but we hear the producers felt he was completely overshadowed by his two co-hosts Bonang Matheba and Minnie Dlamini, the real reason Live is so popular is because of the two fierce ladies, people tune in to see what they are wearing ,and rumors of rivalry between has also boosted the show immensely. They felt Sizwe wasn’t bringing anything substantial to the show!!!
We have always questioned Sizwe’s presenting skills, so we are not surprised SABC decided to get rid of him!!!
At least he still got his YFM gig and Scooter pizza business to focus on.
Do you agree with the decision of “Live” producers not to renew Sizwe contract???
Three of former president Nelson Mandela‘s grandchildren are to star in a new reality show, a member of the family announced on Thursday.
“The show will be about our lives as young, black women… We’re not wearing ‘I’m a Mandela’ T-shirts,” Swati Dlamini, granddaughter of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, told reporters in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Said her cousin Dorothy Adjoa Amuah, granddaughter of the late Evelyn Mandela: “We are exposing Africa for what it is… with a new middle class of intellectuals… contributing to the economy.”
Dlamini, Amuah and Swati’s older sister Zaziwe Dlamini-Manaway, grew up in the United States, but returned to South Africa for business and family reasons.
The show would take an unscripted look at the role of the new generation of women as mothers and career women.
“We’re definitely not the African Kardashians ,” Amuah said.
Producer Rick Leed said the reality show would not be trash television, but would have dignity.
“They clearly have a great love . This may be part storytelling, part reality, except the story we are telling is real… it’s not going to detract from the dignity of Nelson Mandela.”
The trio said the show may feature their cousins, but would not feature their parents and grandparents.
Dlamini-Manaway, 34, is the mother figure of the show with a 10-year-old son, a two-year-old daughter and a third child due in January.
She is involved in a family business, Mandela Dlamini Associates, and plans to launch a clothing line.
Dlamini, 32, is a single mother getting back into the career world with plans to set up a foundation focused on the housing, education and medical sectors.
Amuah, 27, is a socialite with a law degree and an MBA from Monaco. She is in the luxury brands market.
The as yet unnamed show would probably be flighted early in 2012.
Are you looking forward to it?
