Kanye West debuted his fashion line during Paris Fashion Week yesterday and the result was as cool, cutting edge and luxe as one would expect from the inimitable hip-hop visionary.
Named Dw, after his mother Donda West who passed away in 2007, the line offered up a collection of neutrally shaded tough girl chic ensembles, heavy on layering and texture.
West branded models with the line’s nameplate jewellery. They also wore zipped pants and black dresses with plunging rectangular necklines, while one of the most noted pieces in the spring-summer collection was a bulky backpack in fox fur.

South African paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius recently became the face of Thierry Mugler’s new fragrance A*Men.
The famous french brand isn’t known for following traditions, so when the time came to find a guy to be the face of its A*Men cologne, no model or ordinary celebrity would do. Instead, Mugler tapped the sexy sprinter!!!
The extraordinary athlete who runs with carbon fiber artificial limbs as both his legs were amputated when he was an infant is also known as the “Blade Runner” and “the fastest man on no legs”, Pistorius, is the world record holder in the 100, 200 and 400 metres

Fashion house Christian Dior has sacked its chief designer of 15 years after a videotape of the drunken Brit spewing venom in an anti-Semitic outburst surfaced online this week. The footage left brand muse and newly-minted Oscar winner Natalie Portman (who just so happens to be Jewish) “shocked and disgusted,” which prompted the upscale label to begin immediate proceedings to axe Galliano.
In a seething statement issued to the press Monday evening, Portman to cut all links with Galliano after he was heard telling fellow customers in a Paris cafe that their mothers “would have been gassed” and “I love Hitler.” The explosive video emerged shortly after the designer — a former favorite of the late Princess Diana — was suspended as Dior’s creative director last week following his arrest by French police over allegations he subjected yet another couple to a drunken, anti-Semitic tirade.
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful,” Natalie — the Israeli-born face of Dior’s Miss Cherie Dior fragrance — fumed in a press statement issued late Monday.
In the vid, uploaded to the Web this week, the clearly visible Style Guy tells a woman: “I love Hitler” and adds: “People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would be… gassed and… dead,” reports the Independent.”
Meanwhile, Galliano was summoned by Paris police on Monday to face three people who have accused him of racially berating them in a Parisian bar in two separate incidents last week.
“Galliano was sitting alone nursing his drink, when a few of us sat at the next table,” says the man who videotaped the designer’s rant. “Galliano kept intruding, throwing in comments about us and what we were saying. We knew who he was. We were stunned by what Galliano was saying, but then he started making vile anti-Semitic comments. His words were disgusting. He made it clear the Italian girls weren’t welcome and should go home. This was pure racism.”
Gallian, 50, continues to deny allegations that he is a bigot and has vowed to fight any charges leveled against him.
Adding another magazine cover to her credit, Rihanna appears on the December issue of Marie Claire UK.
And in the accompanying interview, the “Take a Bow” songstress gets real about her life after taking a beating from ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Rihanna explained, “Yes . I was very lost. I have to say I felt really confused. It was really strange because… I hate talk about it but it was really crazy because I felt so out of touch with myself and when that happens… it’s scary because nothing you say or do feels like it’s you.”
She continued, “You just lose touch of everything that you love and everything that you would normally do; how you would dress of how you would say something… It just feels like it’s not coming from you. It’s just this one empty vase. I felt like an empty vessel.”
“Eventually, I remember waking up one day and I knew I was over it. One day. I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it.”
As for her duet with Eminem on “Love the Way You Lie,” Ri says it’s not glorifying domestic violence, but rather trying to understand it.
“He confronted himself on it. He basically gives insight into what goes on in the mind of a couple in a domestically violent relationship. I love that in every verse it just gets to that point where she wants to leave, she wants to leave, she leaves, she leaves, she leaves… but then the hook always comes back and it’s like, ‘I love it. I love it.’ That’s not what you think when it’s happening. You know you don’t like it but you’re staying, so it’s almost like you must love it because you’re not leaving.”
“Every word in that song is true. It would take somebody who’s been on the inside to understand how magical those lyrics are. Everybody loves the song but the lyrics can never hit home until you’ve seen it, witnessed it, in your home or experienced it yourself.”
More than 8,000 consumers weighed in on Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti to determine who has the sexiest shoe of the year. No surprise: Christian Louboutin took the title. Who else but the man who became infamous by innovating the sexy red sole?
In this year’s sexiest shoe contest, Christian Louboutin’s crystal-embellished, mesh peep-toe pump (Pictured above) was the shoe that took the win for the Frenchman. And you can see why.
The red sole on high heels was a last-minute idea (using nail polish!) to give the shoe more interest and appeal. Since then, Louboutin has changed the way women walk. Flats have been put aside for four-inch stilettos, and celebrities wear a new pair every day of the week.
Louboutin explains the inception of the signature red soles:
“In 1992 I incorporated the red sole into the design of my shoes. This happened by accident as I felt that the shoes lacked energy so I applied red nail polish to the sole of a shoe. This was such a success that it became a permanent fixture.”
Louboutin received inspiration for his lethal-looking stilettos from an incident that occurred in his early 20s. He had visited a museum and noticed that there was a sign forbidding women wearing sharp stilettos from entering for fear of damage to the extensive wood flooring. This image stayed in his mind, and he later used this idea in his designs. “I wanted to defy that,” Louboutin has said. “I wanted to create something that broke rules and made women feel confident and empowered.”

Gracing the cover of the July issue of Elle, Rihanna muses on fashion and has a few things to say about glamorous, often unattainable – ideals of designers.
“I respect designers who aren’t afraid to go outside the box,” she says.
“I went to a Jean Paul Gaultier show, and I saw girls who are thicker than me, beautiful and voluptuous and different ethnicities. That made me so excited,” the singer continued. “I thought, Okay, I can work that, for sure.”
Of course, the beauty is leaving her mark on couture, and not just with the shocking ensembles she wears live. She’s become a high-end icon as well.
“There are definitely fewer black women in the high-fashion industry. One of the things I respected most about Gucci was that they did a print campaign with me.”
“I’m a black girl on a fashion spread for Gucci. That was a big deal.”
