Mzanzilicious: Mara Louw blasts SA Idols : It’s a RACIST show!!!!22 comments

Mara Louw has blasted South African idols of being racist according to a local newspaper.
This is not the first time Mara who’s one of the judges of SA idols has a racial outburst concerning the singing competition.

Over the past years she’s always constantly claimed that black contestants were disadvantaged on the show.

According to recent reports , Mara has lashed out at reporters claiming that black Idols participants were at a disadvantage when it came to votes from viewers. Commenting about the latest Idols winner Elvis blue , Louw voiced her opinion that L’loyd should have won, “finished and klaar.”

She said Idols was full of racism and if M-Net did not soon sell the competition to the SABC, South Africans would never have a black winner.

“Black people don’t have access to DStv,” said Louw. “So a large part of South Africa is excluded. White people vote for white people and black people get the short end of the stick.”

In an exclusive interview with Rapport she said, “I am tired of being politically correct, the whites refuse to vote for blacks.”

“Shortly before the winner was announced, I sat and prayed and asked God to let L’loyd wins.  I was so shocked that he did not win , ” .

“Elvis can not dance. He had me in tears with his voice,  But L’loyd’s voice is better, he can dance and he was nice – but he has the wrong color”.

Louw who is certain that she will be crucified for her statements also said: “It’s time we acknowledge that a black man will never win SA Idols”

Wow!!! We’re speechless!!! Wonder if she’ll quit before Mnet fires her???

get a grip in life.as soon as something does not go in a black persons way, it is racist. i did a survey in my area where i stay and there’s more blacks with dstv than whites. i asked them if they watch idols and the answer was no , because they don’t like the type of music. have you got dstv or are you not black. go for black idols africa as they did with big brother .ask malema to nationalize dstv and then he could be one of the judges as well, imagine how discrimanating the both of you would be then, If it was not for the white person there would be no idols, in fact, there would not be a lot of other things.

remember as well the black people are the majority in south africa the white people are the minority so sweetie what is your problem, truely not sure where you coming from, you praise and you baby this and baby that to the white contestants you are what we shell call a “DRAAD SITTER” do the whole of south africe good next time around stay home with you chill pills and vodka and shout from a couch that the white man invented.

I am tempted to agree with the contention regarding the figures relating to who has access to Mnet and who has not. The problem is that Mara’s outburst is illogically emotional and that does not solve a thing. Only children, hopefully, play the blame game. I am also thoroughly pleased that that this is an area where the BEE pundits are well and truly zipped.

Nasty, Nasty ……. Sour Grapes!!! I think her time is up. If she is a judge on next season, I will NOT be watching. She should be ashamed of herself – MARA is the racist and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Mara we still have pop stairs so let be to be.

  7. Nelly said on November 9, 2010 at 6:35 pm

Eish MAra, how can you publicly diss the same Idols you work for? doesnt make sense!!!
She was probably drunk when she said that!!!

What she is saying is right. The black people who are a majority some do not have access to Dstv. And the white people minority have access to Dstv. If you would go out to the majority of South Africans and ask who were the winners of  the Pop Idols in the past years. You would find that they dont even have a clue quite frankly they dont even care but yes they do know that there is something called Pop Idols through other forms of media.

I think Mara was totally pissed when she made those comments about racism.

  10. Mara fan said on November 10, 2010 at 5:41 pm

Please leave Mara alone. Why should we vote for the best singer? The rule of thumb has always been that you should vote for the person with a colour tone most similar to yours, so why is everyone now shocked when she makes this request public?

  11. i voted for sindi said on November 11, 2010 at 10:02 pm

who is really the racist? the one that says white people only vote for white people. or the one that says black people are too poor to own dstv. i am white but i voted for sindi, what does that make me? clearly i do not count. i did not want to vote for elvis because i thought he was another jason. but thats just me.

    They should nationalize idols

  14. denzel said on November 15, 2010 at 1:55 pm

As a foreigner in SA I say, wow…what boldness! She must have had enough of political correctness, and just had to call it what it is. Although I think it will not change a thing. Everything in South Africa is based on the colour of your skin, it would be stupid to ever think that Idols would be an exception.

  15. olwakhe said on November 23, 2010 at 2:54 pm

Mara is right is right same thing happens to Bigbrother africa where same country won instead of a person who deserved 2 win. Mara was not being racist she was talking facts.

  16. Joe Rotheray said on December 1, 2010 at 7:58 pm

@ Denzel.I don’t think you know what you are talking about.

  17. Swagga boy said on December 8, 2010 at 12:10 pm

Mara ur so rite, Black ppl will never win dat show.

  18. nic said on December 8, 2010 at 6:16 pm

Anyone who agrees with this racist b@@ch is as crazy as she is. I am a 30 year old white man and I voted for Lloyd. My wife voted for Sindi and so did my best friend. Why is it that when black people do not excel at something its racist? All of you along with her and julius should do the country a favour and go play on a train track. I’m so tired of the racist card.

  19. mo said on December 18, 2010 at 9:50 pm

Louw is probably accurate in her statement and it seems likely that the winners will either be white or from the Cape with a few exceptions.I also agree that Lloyd is a better singer..But,firstly, contestants know what they are getting into and which way the cards are stacked.Secondly Louw is past her sell by date and should be sacked as she has been erratic and one-eyed,probably racist as well.Thirdly it is not the best singer that neccessarily wins idols but the best package as perceived by viewers and if thats the case Elvis was a worthy winner irrespective of ones emotional favourites.

I do not blame her people are still divided over their skin pigmentation, but speaking one’s mind could be dangerous to narrow minded.

  21. Nelly said on May 3, 2011 at 10:56 am

Mara u are sooooo right mama South African idols are sooooo racist finish and klaar maan!!!!!!!!! to hell with those who disagree with you!!!!!!!!!
